About

Built in
the rave.

San Francisco. Early 2000s. A photocopied flyer, an address that arrived the night of, and a room that did not care what time it was.

01The beginning

It didn't start clean.

Durty is a product of the rave scene in the early 2000s in San Francisco. Not the after-the-fact version of it — the actual thing, in the actual rooms, when the flyer was a photocopy and the address arrived the night of.

He was a pioneer in playing and promoting original productions and remixes at a time when most of the floor was still built on other people's records.

02The clubs

From warehouses to 1015.

Underground raves turned into prominent night clubs and festivals: 1015 Folsom, Temple, DNA Lounge. The Bay Area's proper rooms, with proper systems.

The music never got politer on the way up. It just got louder rigs to come out of.

03Coachella

Dome, then Sahara.

In recent years Durty has been featured at Coachella's Dome stage alongside production and performance partner John Beaver.

In 2019, he played Coachella's legendary Sahara stage.
